Latin for Seminarians

Sacrosanctum Concilium 36-1:
"The use of the Latin language, with due respect to particular law, is to be preserved in the Latin rites."

Optatam Totius 13:
"Moreover they [seminarians] are to acquire a knowledge of Latin which will enable them to understand and make use of the sources of so many sciences and of the documents of the Church. The study of the liturgical language proper to each rite should be considered necessary."

Code of Canon Law, Canon 249:
"The program for priestly formation is to make provision that the students are not only carefully taught their native language but also that they are well skilled in the Latin language."
